Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina

Last week I spent the afternoon with Jennifer Pal, Catering Manager at the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina. Jennifer took me on the grand tour of the Hotel which finished its renovations in February 2008. As I walked through the lobby the first thing I noticed were the beautiful blue and white cabanas laid out in a circle before me. Jennifer explained that this is a perfect spot for small ceremony, up to 150 guests, or a terrific place for a cocktail reception. I couldn’t agree more!

Next on the tour was the Palm Ballroom and Courtyard. This newly renovated Ballroom can hold 100 plus guests comfortably with a dance floor. I liked the layout as it’s not your typical square room. The design is very modern and the palate can work with any Brides color scheme.

Mission Ballroom with its high ceilings and mahogany woodwork had to be my favorite. The large private patio is perfect for cocktail hour and late night lounging while the guests dance the night away.

Bayview Ballroom, with a view that very few hotels can match, is elegant and surprisingly intimate for its size. Crystal chandeliers and a wall of floor to ceiling windows lets you capture the light and feel of a truly San Diego celebration.

Once my tour of all the Ballrooms were complete, we headed over to the Red Marlin Restaurant for lunch. If you have never dined looking over a beautiful Marina, then you must make a reservation soon. The staff was extremely friendly and our waitress Tina was so helpful in our menu selection. Jennifer and I both had the blue crab crab cakes as they are a favorite of most diners and I have to say they were amazing! For dessert we again both picked the poached pears with shaved chocolate and whipped cream. The most amazing valrona chocolate was served along side it to be poured at our leisure. I’m not sure about Jennifer, but mine was all gone before I even finished with the pears.

Following lunch we walked past the pool area where I know now I will be coming back this summer with my daughter to enjoy those amazing pools and waterslides. You just have to see it for yourself.

The Blue Marble Spa was the last on my tour and well worth the wait. I absolutely love spas and this spa is the only one in San Diego geared towards an eco-friendly experience.

Named for “The Blue Marble”, the most famous picture of the earth, the spa is powered by the insight this photo reveled-both the beauty of the planet as well as the inherent vulnerability.

Right now the Hyatt Regency Mission Bay Spa and Marina has amazing special offers if you are looking to book a wedding from April 26th to December 31, 2009.

Call Jennifer for more details.

Before saying goodbye, Jennifer shared with me one of her favorite quotes that she keeps near her desk.

“Once in a while,

right in the middle of an ordinary life

Love gives us a fairytale”
